Facet or a photo vault?
A photo vault locks away photos you choose. Facet keeps private photos out of the gallery you show people, without you choosing anything.
| Facet | A photo vault | |
|---|---|---|
| Choosing photos | Automatic. Unsure photos wait in Review. | You pick them one by one. |
| Your photos | Stay where they are, unchanged. | Moved or copied into the vault. |
| Opening | Your fingerprint, face or screen lock. | Usually another PIN. |
| Other apps | Still show your photos as before. | Depends on the vault. |
| Uploads | None. Analysis stays on your phone. | Some vaults back up to the cloud. |
When to choose Facet
- You show people photos on your phone and don't want surprises.
- You'd rather not sort photos by hand or keep a second library.
- You want your photos left exactly where they are.
When to choose a vault
- You need photos gone from your phone's gallery and other apps.
- You want files encrypted, not just kept out of view.
Switching from a vault
- Export your photos from the vault back to your gallery.
- Open Facet. It analyses them on your phone and puts private ones in Filtered.
- Check Filtered and Review, and correct anything.
